about

'Lodestone' is a new track from label-founder Stereo Minus One and heralds next month's new album of the same name. This release also includes an exclusive 3AM alternate version of 'Lodestone', which is not on the album.

It's five years since Dan's seventh album, Lost World, arrived in 2017 bringing a howl of rage on tracks like 'Hard Brexit' and ' Muslim Registry'. Talking about his upcoming album, Dan comments: "It's been a pretty shocking time for everyone, with Brexit, Trump, and COVID."

"Lodestone is partly pure escapism, the completely unconstrained joy of exploring arcane sound-worlds. Partly it's expressing a great deal of sadness and sense of loss, I guess dystopian science fiction themes. And it partly reflects a sort of senseless but insistent compulsion to create, to be fully in the present moment through an almost meditative attention to sound."

Dan continues to try to live up to the review that described his debut album as "A kind of post-apocalyptic anti-dance electronic sound-germ warfare experiment... intriguing, intense and strongly evocative of debris-strewn ruins."

ABOUT STEREO MINUS ONE

Dan Haines Cohen (aka Stereo Minus One) has been releasing music on Machine Records, and elsewhere, since founding the label in 2001.

Live performance highlights have included supporting the likes of Mira Calix, Mike Paradinas, and with Shoji Hano and Gary Smith. Having dinner with Cylob was also a lot of fun. Dan ran the monthly Terminal club night from 2003-2006, bringing ground-breaking live electronics like Chris Clark and The Doubtful Guest to the Welsh capital.
