about

Our first release of 2022 arrives with more new remixes of Stereo Minus One's single, 'Switched'. These three new tunes come from two legends of Welsh underground electronic music: Simon Proffitt (Cahn Ingold Prelog, The Master Musicians of Dyffryn Moor, Carnedd Aur, The Incidental Crack, Taw, Traw, Instituto Bangara-Rossa Internacional, Sunnyvale Noise Sub-Element, Fourier Transform Records) and Rob Morgan, aka Lifting Gear Engineer.

Both artists offer fascinating reinterpretations of Dan's original tune which was released in October last year and followed by David Handford and Sam Arnold remixes in December 2021. Writer, artist, and musician Simon offers two different approaches, under some of his many personas.

On 'Switched', label founder Dan Haines Cohen continues to try to live up to the review that described his debut album as "A kind of post-apocalyptic anti-dance electronic sound-germ warfare experiment... intriguing, intense and strongly evocative of debris-strewn ruins."

ABOUT STEREO MINUS ONE

Dan has been releasing music on Machine Records, and elsewhere, since founding the label in 2001.

Live performance highlights have included supporting the likes of Mira Calix, Mike Paradinas, and with Shoji Hano and Gary Smith. Having dinner with braindance legend Cylob was also a lot of fun. Dan ran the monthly Terminal club night from 2003-2006, bringing ground-breaking live electronics like Chris Clark and The Doubtful Guest to the Welsh capital.
